Basic Logo Facts
What is a Logo?
A logo is a symbol made of images, shapes, and text that denotes the company, product, or service offered. Originally created to clearly claim the maker of a product, logos now help promote public recognition, product identity, and brand awareness.
Aside from simply driving sales, a striking and successful logo creates amazing promotional products and corporate apparel! Logo-branded drinkware, custom notebooks, and logo-branded electronics are perfect for tradeshows and events. Custom sweatshirts, corporate jackets, and logo-branded hats create great corporate gifts or employee uniforms. Design a company logo that delivers a lasting impression for both your products and your merch and beyond!
What Should a Logo Look Like?
Logos can look any way at all, as long as it depicts the name of the business or products. A successful logo, however, should be able to be more than just a symbol. To create a logo that works and lasts it should be able to tell your company story or brand message while still remaining simple overall.
What Types of Logos Are There?
There are 7 different types of logos available. While all still use a combination of font and images, these 7 different logo types each deliver different messaging. There are:
- Monogram Logos
- Wordmark Logos
- Pictorial Marks
- Abstract Logo Marks
- Mascots
- The Combination Mark
- The Emblem
What Makes a Great Logo?
The study finds that 74% of participants think 'look and feel' can make or break a brand. Definitely not a piece of the business that should be forgotten or taken lightly, logo creation is a crucial item in the overall success of a company. Over 92% of study respondents believe a company logo should be a top priority when building a new business.
Not only should a company logo be in place to be used to its full potential, it must be well-thought-out, creative, and clean. Over 3 in 5 study participants wouldn't use a company if their brand image looked terrible. Whether working with a professional graphic designer to create your company logo or if you're looking to try your own hand, be sure to keep your lines clean, text minimalistic, and colors complementary.
The Vistaprint logo study has found that the most trustworthy colors for logos are blue, white, and black. Millennials (age 25 - 39) rated blue as their favorite logo color, while Gen Z (age 18 - 24) denoted black as their preferred logo color. The least popular colors for logos were reported to include pink, silver, orange, yellow, and purple.
