Fall Team Building Activities for 2024

Fall Team-Building Activities

Fall Work Parties for 2024

As much as we love the fall, the end of the summer can be disheartening for some employees. Family time goes down as kiddos go back to school, summer vacations are officially over, and sunny weather and PTO give way to a chill in the air and plugging along until the holidays.

Fall-themed team-building activities can boost the mood and help employees look forward to the workweek. Plus, fall office activities make the hiring season especially enjoyable for new and current employees.

We love these fall employee engagement activities, and we’ve even tried some ourselves!

Company Halloween Party

Pick a Friday when work can end earlier than normal to throw a Halloween party. Play spooky music or sound effects, serve themed snacks, and decorate with orange and black.

Plan ahead by giving everyone the opportunity to bring a costume with them. Bonus points if you make the day pet-friendly and those furry friends get dressed up, too.

Murder Mystery Activity

Murder mystery lunches are spot-on fall office activities for Halloween time, and they can also be considered team-builders if you have people break off into small groups.

You don’t have to plan this on your own, either. Companies like TeamBonding specialize in team-building activities like murder mysteries and can handle it for you.

Host an Office Murder Mystery Party

Food and Drink Tastings

For a sophisticated fall team-building event, consider a food and/or drink tasting. Take a field trip to a nearby cidery or winery, host a beer-and-cheese pairing at the office, or teach the team how to make yummy autumn cocktails.

You can also turn this type of event into a potluck. Ask everyone to bake or make a fall recipe and bring it in to share.

Chili Cookoff

Is there a dish more perfect for fall than chili? We don’t think so!

Ask your employees to form teams of 3 or 4, then have each team make their own pot of chili. Once it’s bubbled to savory goodness, ladle out tapas-sized servings so everyone can taste the different options.

Don’t forget the toppings bar! Fill bowls with shredded cheese, sliced avocado, sour cream, tortilla strips, etc.

Oktoberfest Celebration

Beer and pretzels, dancing and music… What’s not to love about Oktoberfest? We’re definitely fans of it at Merchology — check out our team all dressed up at our company festival.

Merchology's Oktoberfest Celebration

In Germany, this festival runs from mid-September through the beginning of October, so it’s a perfect start-of-the-season activity that leaves plenty of time for Halloween celebrations later on.

To gather the best Oktoberfest beer, foods, music, decorations, games, and even outfits, check out this post from My Wanderlusty Life.

Pro Tip: If the party hits a lull, perk it back up with Oktoberfest trivia.

Volunteer

Truly, any time of the year is a good time to volunteer, but around Thanksgiving, food kitchens need even more donations and help than normal. Whether you get everyone together to set up a food donation in the community or to volunteer their time at a local food bank, giving back is one of the most rewarding fall-themed team-building activities you’ll find.

Watch Football

Do you have a bunch of football fans on your team? Or, at the very least, fans of tailgating parties?

If you have workers who keep non-traditional hours — maybe they work nights or weekends — treat them to a couple of football days at the office. They’ll never see these fall activities for work coming, and they’ll be thrilled with the break!

Set up a projector, bring in snacks and drinks, and let everyone root for their team.

You can also encourage employees to get together on a day off to bond over Sunday football. Kick it off by being the first to host.

Latte Art Class

Coffee and work go hand-in-hand, but you can level up a traditional cup of joe by attending a latte art class. Find a local coffee shop that offers workshops, or order a few latte art kits and take an online class at the office.

Stick with the autumnal theme by making fall lattes. Think cinnamon, maple, and pumpkin flavors decorated with ghosts, jack-o’-lanterns, and leaves.

Here’s another idea: Hold a contest where everyone wins. Dole out prizes for most creative latte art, best-tasting, and biggest fail. The key is to celebrate everyone and make light of those not-so-perfect lattes so that nobody feels left out.

Giveaway Prizes for Corporate Fall Events

Fall employee engagement activities are even more enjoyable when you have giveaway prizes. We have three seasonal MerchBoxes to choose from, plus plenty of individual items to customize.

The Tailgate Time MerchBox has football party essentials, like a BruMate can cooler, a cozy blanket, and a Bluetooth speaker.

Our Sip and Savor MerchBox includes a S’well Teakwood Tumbler — we suggest sipping spiced wine from it — and a six-piece cheese set, among other items for foodies.

Then there’s the Fireside Favorites MerchBox, complete with s’mores ingredients and a deck of cards with campfire stories.
