At Merchology, one of our core values is to protect the planet. We seek to manage our business in a way that protects the environment and preserves the earth’s natural resources. There is always a “cleaner and greener” way to do things, and we choose that route whenever possible across sourcing, manufacturing, delivery, and packaging. We are proud to offer completely sustainable packaging since 2018 after partnering with International Paper for recycled shipping boxes and EcoEnclose for eco-friendly poly mailers.
Merchology and Zusa Sustainability Efforts
As a company, Merchology believes that businesses need to take the lead when it comes to sustainability and commit to eco-friendly business practices. Our commitment to sustainability is the one of the main reasons that we decided to create the Zusa brand. Zusa sustainable products include t-shirts, polo shirts, fleeces, jackets, vests, hats, quarter zips, backpacks, duffel bags, drinkware, and more.
93% of all Zusa apparel and gifts are made from recycled materials and we're working hard to get that number to 100% in the coming years. As of August 2022, Zusa has reclaimed and reused over six million recycled plastic bottles from our oceans to create the recycled polyester we use in our apparel. All Zusa products are manufactured in Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production (WRAP) certified factories that set the standard for eco-friendly manufacturing.
Zusa and Merchology are also officially certified carbon neutral brands, meaning we've taken all the steps to measure, reduce, and offset all the carbon produced by our business activities through carbon offset programs. Through our carbon offset program, Merchology and Zusa purchase carbon offset credits that fund carbon reducing initiatives such as renewable energy projects, forest management, recycling, and carbon removal technology like Direct Air Capture.
Our Eco-Friendly Shipping Boxes
Sustainably-made products are only part of the big picture for eco-friendly ordering. When you place an order with Merchology or Zusa, your order will always arrive in sustainable packaging. In 2018 we partnered with International Paper for 100% renewable and recyclable shipping boxes.

International Paper's commitment to sustainable business practices and the preservation of our planet's forests make them an ideal partner for Zusa and Merchology from a values standpoint.
Our shipping boxes are made from the most widely recovered packaging material in the world, 100% recycled corrugated fiberboard. Not only is corrugated fiberboard completed recyclable and renewable, it also provides more cushion and water resistance than a standard shipping box, so your Merchology and Zusa custom apparel and gifts will all arrive safe and sustainable!
Our Sustainable Poly Mailer Bags
Large shipping boxes are not necessary for smaller orders or individual drop shipping. Because it was extremely important to us to have fully sustainable packaging, we had to find a partner for sustainable poly mailer bags as well. In 2018 we found the perfect partner in EcoEnclose.

The poly mailer bags EcoEnclose provides us with are made from 100% recycled materials and 50% post-consumer waste. Plus, they also have a reusable tear strip that reseals for future use, so you can use the same bag for returns and other shipments. Of course, the poly mailer bags themselves are recyclable as well. If you don't have a way to recycle plastic film or there is no recycling program in your area, don't worry! You can send them back to EcoEnclose and they'll take care of it for you with their Plastic Film Take-Back Program.
