How to Make Your Company Logo Better for Embroidery
How to Make Your Company Logo Better for Embroidery
So, you're about to order some new custom merch, but you want to make sure that your embroidered company logo turns out as good as possible. That's the perfect place to start! Just read up on our best practices for logo embroidery, upload your logo to our mockup tool, and our embroidery experts will take it from there.
Best Logo Size for Custom Embroidery
Like all works of art, the appropriate size depends on the size of your canvas. For most custom polos, jackets, and hats, the optimal logo size is between 2 to 3 inches tall and 2 to 4 inches tall. For full front or full back embroidered logos on sweatshirts and jackets, optimal logo size is about 11" by 11". The main things to consider is that small logos can lack detail for embroidery and larger ones can come at a higher cost for added thread count.
Logo Color Best Practices for Embroidery
When it comes to custom embroidery, simple is best. While there are tons of embroidery thread colors to choose from, some designs can not be replicated through embroidery. Specifically, gradients, outer glows, and drop shadows can't properly be achieved through embroidery. Your best bet is to stick with 1 to 5 colors for your embroidered logo or design. Another thing to consider is the color of the garment you're decorating. Putting a logo on an item that's a similar color doesn't usually turn out well.
Embroidered Logo Text and Lettering
When it comes to text and lettering, simplicity is again better for embroidery. Large letters in normal font sizes work the best, while extremely small lettering or fancy fonts and cursive embroidery are difficult to read in most cases. Try to go for a minimum font size of 24 or embroidery height of a quarter inch.
Logo Digitizing for Embroidery
Your company logo must be digitized before it can be embroidered. If you have a digitized logo file that you've used in the past successfully then you can use that! If not, no worries, we have a team of expert logo digitizers that can do it for you. If you're interested in digitizing your logo yourself, check out our guide to logo digitization.
